A court has charged 57
suspects with rape in the northern Nigerian city of Kano. State Police
Commissioner Muhammad Musa Katsina said at least two of the victims had tested
HIV positive, while others are still receiving treatment in hospital for
injuries sustained while being raped.
BBC News reports that the
victims were between two and 12 years of age.
The
suspects have pleaded not guilty and have been remanded in prison.
