Two Thirds Of Still Births Still Occur In Africa

BBC

New research has said there were more than 2.5 million stillbirths across the world last year, two-thirds of them in Africa.

The Lancet

BBC Africa Live report continues:

The Lancet says it's horrific and scandalous that half of the stillbirths in 2015 happened during delivery - most entirely preventable.

According to the medical journal, which looked at five studies, the country with the highest rate of stillbirths is Pakistan, but the next nine worst rates are all in countries in sub-Saharan Africa.
One study predicts it could be more than 160 years before the average chances of a baby being born alive in sub-Saharan Africa are the same as in a developed country today.
