Dr. Ameyo Stella Adadevoh, the female medical doctor at First Consultant
Hospital, Obalende, Lagos, has died from the Ebola Virus Disease, sources confirmed to Graphitti
News on Tuesday evening.
A statement issued on behalf of the minister of health, Professor
Onyebuchi Chukwu, by his media aide, Dan Nwomeh, read: “The Honourable Minister
of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu regrets to announce the death, this evening,
of one of the primary contacts of the index Ebola Virus Disease case, the most
senior doctor who participated in the management of the patient, a female
consultant physician.
The
statement did not name the victim, but multiple sources provided additional details indicating strongly that it is Dr.
Ameyo Stella Adadevoh. She had had primary contact with and attended to Patrick Sawyer, the Liberian-American
who brought the virus to Nigeria, and reportedly discovered down the line the
patient had been infected with Ebola Virus Disease.
