The
publishers of RichestLifestyle.com on Thursday removed President Goodluck
Jonathan’s name from the Richest African Presidents 2014 list, Leadership/The
Trent report.
President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr
Goodluck Ebele Jonathan was placed on the sixth position on the list with the
net worth of US$100 million. The presidency in turn reacted to the unfounded
claim and asked that the list be revisited to avoid a legal action against the
outfit.
In a statement on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 the
Presidency described the report was false, unacceptable and totally
unwarranted.
A
visit to the website by 9:50pm showed that the Nigerian presidents name is now
excluded.
The publisher stated that the detail was removed as
the net worth was evaluated by celebrity net worth.
Special adviser to the President on media and
publicity, Dr Reuben Abati, had said in a public statement that the report was
malicious and unfounded as the President has never been involved in any private
business since he assumes political office in 1999.
He further suggested that the inclusion of President
Jonathan in the publication is another attempt to unjustifiably portray the
President as a corrupt leader and incite public disaffection against his good
will.
