Piers Morgan, Unfortunately,
Has A New Job
Bad news everyone: Piers Morgan has
a new job.
More bad news: He’s working for a
British tabloid… but staying in America.
Morgan announced on his Twitter page
Monday morning that he indeed has a new job. The Daily Mail has since confirmed that
he is their new U.S. editor-at-large in New York.
According to the Daily Mail, Morgan
“will write several times each week, bringing his own experience and
perspective to bear on the big U.S. stories of the moment. He will continue
contributing a weekly column to the Mail on Sunday newspaper and hosting ‘Piers
Morgan’s Life Stories’ on ITV in Britain.”
Lastly, and perhaps most unfortunately, “he will
also be pursuing new television ventures in the U.S.”
The background to this whole episode is that some Americans are livid that Piers Morgan, the erstwhile host of the now rested show PIERS MORGAN LIVE which had been running on the 24-hour cable news network formerly owned by Ted Turner, CNN, had had the temerity to tell Americans to give up on guns. Morgan unabashedly aired his views against the American obsession with guns that he perceived was responsible for rabid and rampant gun violence which was wasting so many lives, especially of the young. Even when he clarified that it was really the widespread ownership of Military-style Assault rifles that civilians were buying he was set against, flared tempers did not die down. Well, the upshot was that CNN cancelled on the show and Morgan was suddenly out of a job. Apparently, he has bounced back rather quickly.
