President Muhammadu Buhari has begun a short vacation from Friday February 5 to Wednesday February 10, 2016.

TheCable report continues:

According to a statement by Femi Adesina, special adviser on media and publicity to the president, Yemi Osinbajo, the vice president, will perform the functions of the president while Buhari’s vacations lasts.

“In compliance with Section 145 (1) of the Nigerian Constitution, President Buhari has dispatched a formal notice of his vacation to the Senate President and the Speaker of the House of Representatives,” read the statement.

Since Ibrahim Babangida did it in 1987 when he went for operations in France, this is the first time a president is officially handing over to the vice president while on vacation.
