Guinean Rapper Held Over Rape Allegation

Tamsir Toure

Popular Guinea rapper Tamsir Toure has been arrested over allegations that he raped a woman at knifepoint in the capital, Conakry, police say. Mr Toure fled to neighbouring Ivory Coast after images of the alleged assault went viral on social media about two weeks ago.

BBC News report continues:
He was brought back to Guinea yesterday by officers of the global police body Interpol and his lawyer after Guinea issued an international arrest warrant for him, said Guinean police spokesman Boubacar Kasse.

The rapper has not commented on the allegation, and not yet been charged or brought to court.
He was an upcoming star in Banlieuz'art, a popular rap group in Guinea.
