Bandits Kill 40 Nigerian Gold Miners

Illegal mining flourish in Anka and Maru Local Government Areas of Zamfara state
Unknown gunmen have killed 40 miners in Bindim, a community in Maru local government area of Zamfara State.
A source told reporters that the tragic incident occurred late Monday.
The victims were said to have been ambushed at a mine location.
Security agency are yet to confirm this latest attack, but the high rate of insecurity in the north-western state has been a source of concern.
In July, the federal government deployed hundreds of soldiers to Zamfara State to combat armed gangs that were terrorizing residents of the state.
The armed bandits have killed dozens of residents while also rustling cattle.
President Muhammadu Buhari also visited the state to launch a military offensive to “flush out” the bandits.
