Voting is taking place in
Seychelles in the second round of a presidential election in which incumbent
James Michel is seeking a third term. It is the first time a run-off ballot is being
held in the island which is home to 93,000 people.
BBC Africa Live report continues:
Mr
Michel, 71, whose ruling Parti Lepep party has been in power for 38 years, is
seen as having an edge over Wavel Ramkalawan, a 54-year-old Anglican
priest-turned-politician.
In
the first round, Mr Michel secured 48% of the vote, just short of the more than
50% needed to win outright, against 34% for Ramkalawan.
Four
opposition candidates who took part in the first round are now backing
Mr Ramkalawan.
Results
are expected late on Friday.
