Muhammadu Buhari, Nigeria’s president-elect, has been issued a Certificate of Return by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC. The chairman of INEC, Attahiru Jega, handed the certificate to Mr. Buhari, and the vice president-elect, Yemi Osinbajo, on Wednesday.

Mr. Buhari defeated President Goodluck Jonathan in the presidential election held Saturday. Speaking after receiving the certificate, Mr. Buhari said “Change has finally come” to Nigeria.

Buhari: Jonathan Has Nothing To Fear



President-elect Muhammadu Buhari says President Goodluck‎ Jonathan has “nothing to fear from him” and that he has no plans to jail him.
Patience Jonathan, first lady, during the campaigns for her husband had urged Nigerians not to vote for Buhari on the grounds that he might send Jonathan to jail.
But speaking at a brief ceremony for the presentation of a certificate of return by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abuja on Wednesday, Buhari pledged to work with Jonathan and his team rather than throwing him into jail.

President Goodluck Jonathan’s kinsmen, the Ijaw National Congress (INC), have congratulated General Muhammadu Buhari as President-elect. They also admonished Nigerians to eschew any act that was capable of endangering the peace, unity and corporate existence of the country.
INC, through its President, Boma Obuoforibo, in an online statement on Wednesday stated that President Jonathan did well on Tuesday evening by conceding defeat and congratulating Gen. Buhari, even before the formal announcement of the final results by the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Attahiru Jega.

Pesticides On Fruits And Vegetables Could Account For 49 Percent Loss In Sperm

A major study of men’s sperm found that those who ate regular quantities of fruit and vegetables that had pesticide residue on them had half the sperm count of men who ate less, a new study showed.

The Harvard University study, the first of its kind on the issue, analyzed sperm samples from 155 men who attended a fertility clinic during 2007-2012, Reuters reported. The men involved were attending a fertility clinic because they and their partners were unable to conceive, and were asked about the food they ate, including how often they ate fruit and vegetables like apples, avocados or cantaloupe.

The Independent National Electoral Commission on Wednesday declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Muhammadu Buhari, winner of Saturday’s presidential election.
The Chairman of the Commission, Attahiru Jega, who announced the final result at exactly 2.55 a.m. Wednesday, after days of collation of results from across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, said Mr. Buhari polled a total 15,424,921 votes.
On the other hand, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, President Goodluck Jonathan, scored 12,853,162 votes.

2015 Presidential Elections: Buhari In Historic Election Win, Emerges Nigeria’s President-Elect

After three previous failed shots at the presidency, Muhammadu Buhari is finally moving into Aso Rock, Nigeria’s presidential palace,as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

A retired Major-General, Mr. Buhari, who contested on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, polled a total of 15,416,221 votes to defeat the incumbent and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, President Goodluck Jonathan, who got 12,853,162 votes.

The APC candidate got the highest number of votes in 21 states while Mr. Jonathan prevailed in 15 states and Abuja.

With presidential election results from all but one of Nigeria’s 36 states counted, and the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Muhammadu Buhari, clearly in unassailable lead, President Goodluck Jonathan has telephoned Mr. Buhari to concede defeat.

The spokesperson of the APC, Lai Mohammed, told reporters in Abuja that President Jonathan has conceded defeat.

He said the president called Mr. Buhari to congratulate him on wining the presidential election held Saturday.

“The President called General Buhari at 5: 05 pm this evening to congratulate him for emerging victorious,” Mr. Mohammed said.

He commended the president for “that singular act”.

The Independent National Electoral Commission is yet to declare Mr. Buhari winner because it is still expecting results from Nigeria’s remote Borno State.

By the time the Borno vote is added to the tally, Mr. Buhari would have garnered 15,416,221 votes. All of Mr. Mr. Jonathan’s 12,853, 162 votes have already being counted.
Celebrations have broken across Nigeria as news of Mr. Buhari’s victory dribbles around the nation.
