Wilfred Ndidi moves from Belgian side Racing Genk to Leicester City |
Leicester City have
signed Nigeria midfielder Wilfred Ndidi from Belgian side Racing Genk on a
five-and-a-half-year deal subject to a work permit being granted, the Premier
League champions said on Tuesday.
Reuters
report continues:
No
financial details were given, although media reports have mentioned a figure of
£15 million (US$18.38 million) plus a further three million of potential
add-ons.
The
20-year-old has agreed personal terms, undergone a medical and will sign a
contract to June 2022 once the permit comes through officially, City added on
their website (www.lcfc.com).
Leicester,
who need a replacement for N'Golo Kante after the French midfielder joined
current leaders Chelsea last summer, said Ndidi was expected to complete the
formalities of his move later this week.
Ndidi,
who helped Genk reach the knockout stages of this season's Europa League
competition, will link up with Nigeria international forward Ahmed Musa at the
Foxes.
Leicester,
whose title against the odds was the stuff of fairy tales, are languishing in
14th place in the league and still await their first away win of the season.

Meanwhile
AFP reports that Cameroon international striker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting has
joined a growing list of players from the African nation snubbing a call-up to
the Cup of Nations tournament.
The
striker's German club Schalke 04 said Tuesday that the 27-year-old had
"pulled out of the Cameroon national squad and will not play at the
CAN".
Choupo-Moting
will instead join Schalke at their training camp in the Spanish seaside resort
of Benidorm from January 4.
Schalke
added that Algeria midfielder Nabil Bentaleb and Ghana defender Baba Rahman
will however compete for their respective countries in the tournament in Gabon
from January 14 to February 5.
Several
players called up by Cameroon coach Hugo Broos in his 35-strong squad have
turned down the offer including Lille defensive midfielder Ibrahim Amadou and
Liverpool defender Joel Matip.
Four-time champions Cameroon will host the next African continental tournament in 2019.
