Dr Fatima Akilu is the
director of the Neem Foundation and formerly head of the Nigerian government's
Countering Violent Extremism Programme.

BBC Africa Live reports that thousands
of girls and women have been kidnapped by the militant Islamist group Boko
Haram in north-eastern Nigeria in recent years.
The
group often uses female suicide bombers and there have been cases in which
girls as young as six were sent to their deaths.
Dr
Fatimu Akilu's Neem Foundation, a non-profit group which
takes care of women and children rescued from Boko Haram.
