Governor Willie Obiano of
the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) was sworn in today for a second term
in office.

The
governor took the oath of office, which was administered by the Chief Judge of
Anambra State, Justice Peter Umeadi, at about 1.10 pm. This was after his
deputy, Dr. Nkem Okeke had done the same. Their inauguration was heralded
by 21 gun salute.
Speaking
after his inauguration, Obiano said that his re-election showed that Anambra
people have grown politically and promised to work hard for the development of
the state.
He
said, “I stand today to declare a new season of service to Anambra
people. We are reaching the skies and I thank you for choosing me and my
deputy, Dr. Nkem Okeke. I bow to the leadership of the All Progressives
Grand Alliance (APGA) for fighting for our victory at the November 18, 2017
elections. I also accept the decision of the people in good faith.
The
governor assured the people that his second tenure would witness improvement in
the provision of infrastructure, entrepreneur and agriculture.
“As
we have commenced another journey of four years, we will install CCTV cameras
to further improve security across the major cities.
“We
will dualize major roads in Nnewi and Onitsha and transform Awka to 21st
century modern city,’’ he said.
Obiano
advised people of the state to stand together with his government to bend the
tide of destiny of the state.
The
governor reviewed his achievements in the past four years in the areas of
healthcare, infrastructure, education and security.
He
assured the people that the Airport City project he promised during his
campaign would be achieved.
Governors
Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Enugu and Ifeanyi
Okowa of Delta were on hand to witness the occasion.
Governors
Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State and Darius Ishaku of Taraba State, Oni of Ife,
Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II and the Ewi of Ado Ekiti, Oba Rufus
Adeyemo Adejugbe Aladesanmi III, also attended the event.
Vice
President Yemi Osinbajo was represented by the Minister of Labour and
Productivity, Dr. Chris Ngige. Other personalities at the occasion were
former governors of Anambra, Chukwuemeka Ezeife, Chinwoke
Mbadinuju, and Mrs Virgy Etiaba, former Information Minister, Labaran
Maku, President General Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Nnia Nwodo, Senators Andy Ubah,
Victor Umeh, and Joy Emordi.
Other personalities that attended the event include Obi of Onitsha, Prof. Nnaemeka Achebe, Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, HRM Dubem Iweka, the traditional ruler of Obosi, members of the National Assembly from the zone and captains of industries and religious leaders.
