The Emir of Borgu, Alhaji Haliru
Dantoro Kitoro III has urged politicians to desist from making empty promises
and overheating the nation’s polity in view of the current security challenges. The royal father made the call
yesterday in New Bussa, Niger State, while receiving the All Progressives
Congress (APC) governorship campaign team in his palace.
The royal father maintained that
politicians must take into consideration the peace and security of those they
aspire to lead by not making utterances and engaging in acts that will overheat
the polity and compromise the security of the nation, according to Leadership.
He said if politicians truly care for
the people they should ask themselves questions why there were large crowd of
youths available for them at campaign rallies saying “they should ponder why
the large turnout this is food for thought for them”
The Royal father advised politicians
to desist from making promises they knew they will not be able to keep and that
if they know they cannot keep the promises they should not make any to raise
the hope of the people.
To correct the development deficits
in the rural areas Alhaji Dantoro, advocated for the proper funding of the
local government councils and said the Ward Development programme in the state
should be sustained and make corruption free.
While calling for prayer for the success of the
next general election without any breach of peace and security, he reiterated
that politicians should be wary of what they do in the interest of the people.
