Gunmen in two speed boats abducted two Lebanese citizens and
killed two policemen in Nigeria's oil-rich Niger Delta, police said on
Thursday.
Reuters reports the police officers
worked as bodyguards for the Lebanese men, who were employed for a construction
company in southern Bayelsa State, according to the state's police spokesperson
Astimin Butswat.
"A massive manhunt
has been launched to rescue the victims and arrest the suspects," Butswat
said in a statement.
Kidnappings of foreigners
for ransom are common in the Niger Delta, the source of Nigeria's oil wealth.
