Nigeria's largest airline
carrier Arik Air is to resume flights this morning after
operations were suspended yesterday because of problems with its insurance
policy.
BBC
Africa Live report continues:
This
led to many passengers being stranded at airports across the country – although
the managing director said the flight to London did leave yesterday.
In a statement, the airline urged
the public to disregard reports suggesting that it was unable to meet its
financial obligations to buy fuel or pay its insurance:
"Arik Air is in good
standing with its fuel suppliers and has been meeting its obligations to them
and to our insurers.
With the regularization of
the required documents relating to the renewal of the insurance, Arik Air will
be resuming its normal flying schedule from 11:00 hours on Wednesday."
As at press time it's not clear yet if the operations
have restarted.
