Nigerian Soldiers Fighting Insurgency |
Two different attacks launched by Boko Haram gunmen, one in Borno and the
other in Adamawa, have caused the death of at least 19 people, eyewitnesses and
security operatives said.
The first attack, which occurred in Shaffa village in Hawul local
government area on Saturday, took place when gunmen dressed in military
camouflage invaded the town in broad daylight.
“They shot sporadically at residents at a crowded commercial point,
killing two persons, injuring several others and escaped with five vehicles and
a truck loaded with rice,” said Sunday Shaffa, a resident.
Shaffa is located about 220km south of Maiduguri, the Borno State
capital.
Barely 24 hours after the attack, another one took place not more than
60km away in a village called Zani in Hong local government area of Adamawa
State.

Boko Haram stormed Zani village about 10am driving in some Hilux vehicles and
riding on several motorcycles.
