Wildfires Bear Down On Yosemite, 13,000 Homes And Businesses Ordered To Evacuate


Thousands told to leave as one of the fires rages towards national park. Hotels, schools and roads in Oakhurst shut as firefighters struggle to cope. Flames have crept dangerously close to 30,000 gallons of propane gas. Two more wildfires burning in state, one near Bakersfield now five miles wide. A third smaller fire in Glendora, north-east of Los Angeles, is under control.
Three separate wildfires are currently burning in California - covering an area of almost 5,000 acres


Up to 13,000 people have been ordered to evacuate their homes and businesses as out-of-control wildfires tear through central California towards Yosemite National Park.

The blaze, covering an area of 1,200 acres, has forced four hotels to be abandoned and school classes to be cancelled in the community of Oakhurst - with State Route 41 now shut to all travellers, AP reports.
The blaze burning near Lake Isabella is said to cover an area of more than 3,000 acres, or five square miles 
The fire has also crept dangerously close to a propane factory with 30,000 gallon tanks of the inflammable gas stored on the site.
