A former police officer was found to
have been earning salaries from 15 different police commands.
Vanguard continues with the story:
The Nigerian Police authorities have
told a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, that a dismissed police officer,
Victor Afam Banor, had been earning salaries from 15 different police commands.
The dismissed officer was alleged to
have stolen N20 million meant for salaries of officers of Enugu State Police
Command.
Banor, said to have been dismissed
while serving at Umunede Police Division in Delta State for allegedly stealing
an exhibit vehicle in a criminal case under investigation, escaped from
detention and resurfaced at Enugu Command with a falsified signature, claiming
to still be a Deputy Superintendent of Police.
The police IG, in the
counter-affidavit opposing an application by Banor to be freed from police
detention by the court, urged the court not to release him since investigation
into his alleged crime was still ongoing.
Justice Aneke adjourned to November 21 for
ruling on Banor’s bail application.
