The
House of Representatives minority leader, Femi Gbajabiamila has said that the
‘authentic impeachment list’ of lawmakers plotting to remove President Goodluck
Jonathan from office will be published ‘in due course’.
LEADERSHIP reports Gbajabiamila
(Lagos/APC), who is the leader of opposition in the House was speaking in
reaction to a purported list published in some online mediums.
The
list seen contains 201 lawmakers, many of them PDP members and some vocal
Jonathan backers.
In
a press statement titled, “Impeachment List: Our Stand”, Gbajabiamila tagged
the list as ‘fake’ and meant to achieve ‘obvious sinister intentions’.
The
statement reads in part “The general public is hereby advised to disregard a
fake impeachment list published by some online publicists for obvious sinister
intentions.
“None
of our APC members in the House of Representatives is party to the fake
impeachment list.
“The
authentic impeachment list would be published in due course and we urge our
constituents across the country to be so guided.”
The
House resumes today after embarking on a recess since October 28.
Media
had reported that a major fallout of the November 20 police assault on the
National Assembly were heightened moves and counter moves by the camps of the
House Speaker, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal and that of President Jonathan to impeach
each other.
For now, not fewer than 200
House members have endorsed the motion to impeach Jonathan, according to the
House Minority Whip, Hon. Samson Osagie (Edo/APC).
