Governor Mukhtar Yero of Kaduna State
on Monday asked residents of the state to resist violence in the February 2015
general elections.
The Punch reports the governor said
nobody was worth spilling the blood of anybody because of elections, stressing
that those who wanted to use violence to achieve their selfish political
ambition, were clearly enemies of the people.
The governor spoke while inaugurating
Luxury Hotel, constructed by the National Union of Road Transport Workers in
Kaduna.
“Elections are coming and there are
those who feel that if they are not the ones that will win, everything should
be destroyed,” he said
The governor, who is also the flag
bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state for the February poll,
urged the people of the state not to allow those beating drum of war to succeed
in the 2015 general elections.
“We must not allow those beating the
drum of war to succeed. No blood should he shed for the political ambition of
anybody, so we must all work towards peaceful elections in 2015,” Yero said.
Yero, who commended the efforts of the
NURTW for the construction of hotel in the state, was an indications that peace
had returned to the city.
Also speaking at the event, the President of the
Nigerian Labour Congress, Abdulwaheed Omar, said the NURTW had been transformed
over the years.
