Mr
Magufuli won elections by a landslide (AFP)

John Magufuli has been
sworn in as Tanzania's new president in front of about 20,000 people at a
stadium in the main city Dar es Salaam. Nicknamed "The
Bulldozer", he appeared to be in a conciliatory mood, saying he saw them
as strong competitors who made his work hard for his victory.
He
said he looked forward to working with them in future.
Defeated presidential
candidate Edward Lowassa and his opposition Ukawa coalition boycotted the
ceremony.
