Leicester City boss
Claudio Ranieri has renamed his star striker Jamie van Vardy.
SunSport
report continues:
The
Italian is still in awe of Vardy’s sensational volley against Liverpool this
week.
And
he likened it to Marco van Basten’s amazing goal against the USSR at the 1988
European Championship.
But
he also said it was similar to a spectacular effort from Italy striker Francesco
Totti for Roma against Sampdoria.
Ranieri
was still talking about the goal two days later.
He
said: “It was amazing. I can put him with Van Basten when he made a fantastic
goal.
“I
don’t know if you watched Totti when he scored against Sampdoria. They are
amazing goals. Jamie’s was like that.
“This
season everything he is doing is fantastic. It is good for him and for us - and
good for our fans.”
Ranieri
refused to give an indication of when Vardy would be signing his new
three-and-a-half-year Foxes deal.

But
he says he has no concerns about the England’s strikers £60,000-a-week wage
causing splits in the dressing room.
Ranieri
added: “Why? It is normal the strikers in every team earn a little more.
“I
don’t ask about his contract. It is not my job. I watch him in training and he
is training well. For me that is okay.
“It
is important when everyone is involved in this spirit. I want this.
“Slowly,
slowly it is not possible that everyone is 100 per cent of their ability.
“But
everyone can improve and for me it is important everyone tries to improve.
“Now everyone has a very
high level of determination and they will try to do something special.”
