The world's first drug
specifically-designed to treat tuberculosis in children is being launched in
Kenya.
BBC
Africa Live report continues:
The
pill combines three drugs and dissolves in water, making it easy for children
to complete the six-month treatment to tackle TB, a potentially deadly lung
disease.
Until
now, they have been given several pills designed for adults which then had to
be crushed.
At
least one million children worldwide become infected each year with TB.
Experts say the new treatment will be more effective because the components have been measured accurately.
