Two people have been
killed and one man is fighting for his life after a knife attack at an IKEA
store in Sweden on Monday. The attack took place at the flat-pack furniture warehouse
in the city of Västerås, about one hour west of the Swedish capital Stockholm,
police said. The victims have been
confirmed as a man and a woman, but it is not known if they knew their
attacker.
Media report continues:
A
third person, a man in his mid-30s, has been taken to a local hospital with
life-threatening injuries
Vastmanland
police said they had received a call reporting injuries at the IKEA store at
around 1pm CET.
'We
found a man and a woman who had knife injuries and who later died of their
wounds,' a police statement said.
The
police said they had taken a man into custody suspected of murder.
Mattias
Johansson, the head of the local IKEA store, told local newspaper VLT that
three shoppers had been injured in the attack.
An
IKEA spokeswoman confirmed an incident had taken place at the store, but did
not provide any further details.
