Final round of peace
talks to end the conflict in South Sudan are due to begin shortly here in the Ethiopian
capital, Addis Ababa. There is a cautious optimism that a deal will finally be
signed after President Salva Kiir and rebel leader Riek Machar leaders met
until late last night.
Uganda's
President Yoweri Museveni and other regional leaders were at the talks, as they
stepped up pressure on the two sides to reach a deal.
BBC Africa Live reports the
leaders have arrived again this morning and are expected to meet face-to-face
to resolve remaining differences.
Mediators
have set today as the deadline for a deal, and have warned the two sides of
"consequences" if there is no agreement.
