Radicalist Threat In Cameroon 'Not Just From Boko Haram' As Many Dead And Injured In Northern Cameroon Bomb Blasts

The Islamic militants Boko Haram are not the only radical religious group with the potential to cause conflict in Cameroon. That's the warning from the Brussels-based think-tank the International Crisis Group.

It says that traditional Sufi Islam is increasingly challenged by the rise of more rigorous Islamic ideology, mostly Wahhabism. And within Christian communities, growing Revivalist Churches have no legal status and are poorly-regarded by Catholics.  Born-again pastors often preach religious intolerance, it warns.

BBC report continues:
This comes as at least 19 people have been killed and more than 100 wounded in twin bomb attacks in northern Cameroon. Both blasts occurred in the town of Kerawa, one near an army camp, the other in a market.
No-one has claimed responsibility but militant group Boko Haram has attacked targets in the region after Cameroon joined the campaign to end the Islamist insurgency.
