A bomb reportedly went off at a petrol station in
Kano this afternoon.
Eye-witnesses say the blast happened at Filin
Parking in Kantin Kwari textile Market in Fagge, Kano around 3: 30pm.
Details
of the blast yet to be ascertained.
In December 3, 2012, a bomb explosion had occurred at
the same market, injuring three people. The explosion was
reported to have occurred along the road around Kofar Mata area of the market
when an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) went off.
The Joint Task Force (JTF) has reportedly ordered
the closure of the market due to another possible bomb threat.
“The bomb
exploded, but there are no casualties because people are yet to come out as at
the time it exploded. However, its impact has destroyed some part of Eid prayer
ground’s fence”, the witness said.
Kantin Kwari textile
market is the largest market in the entire northern Nigeria with thousands of
traders from the West-African sub-region, thronging the market every day.
